When booking please ensure you have the following information to hand:
- The date of the appointment
- The time
- The place
- The nature of the assignment
- The names of the participants involved
- The contact person’s details
- The invoice address, if applicable.
Out-of-hours medical emergency service
coHearentVision’s Sign Language Interpreting Service offers an out-of-hours medical emergency service. From 5.00 pm until 8.30 am and at weekends there is a voice/text number (see below) to contact an interpreter for emergency medical appointments (hospitals etc).
(Please note this is an emergency service and should not be used to book interpreters for non-urgent appointments.)

Terms and Conditions for Provision of Sign Language Interpretation
- The fees payable per interpreter are:
- £80* for a minimum two-hour charge plus excess hours at £40 per hour (please ask for media and court fees when booking).
- All travel costs including second-class rail travel, mileage at £0.45 per mile and parking fees.
- If necessary out of pocket expenses for accommodation and subsistence will be charged.
- Terms are strictly thirty days from the date of invoice. Any queries with respect of our invoice must be discussed within seven days. We understand and will exercise our statutory right to interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 if we are not paid according to agreed credit terms.
- The Interpreter undertakes:
- To provide British Sign Language (BSL) and English interpretations in accordance with the NRCPD’s code of ethics and the Association of Sign Language Interpreters (ASLI) code of practice.
- The contractor will undertake:
- To reasonable facilitate provision of all such information necessary, so as to enable the interpreter to be adequately briefed for the assignment. If preparation time involves more than two hours work, a pro-rata fee will be charged.
- To reasonably provide a suitable visual and audible environment in order for the interpreter to carry out the task.
- That for the entire period of the assignment they will not directly or indirectly solicit or procure the independent services of the interpreter. All requests must be referred through Leeds Sign Language Interpreting Service.
- To inform Leeds Sign Language Interpreting Service prior to assignment if you wish to film any part of the assignment as this may affect the choice of interpreter when booking.
- coHearentVision’s Sign Language Interpreting Service only provide the services of appropriately trained and registered interpreters who are expected to abide by their Professional Code of Ethics and Complaints Procedure, details of which will be provided on request.
- In the event of sudden illness we will endeavour to provide a suitable alternative.
- If the services of the interpreter are no longer required the following cancellation fees will be payable by the contractor:
10+ working days** – no fee; 6–9 working days – half fee; 0–5 working days – full fee - When on arrival at an appointment if the client or visiting parties are not present the maximum waiting time for an interpreter will be 20 minutes unless requested by the client to wait longer.
- This cannot extend beyond the allotted appointment time.
- Either party reserves the right to be consulted and to reject any amendment of the original agreement if deemed undesirable.
- Leeds Sign Language Interpreting Service are committed to providing quality services. Any comments on the service provided would be appreciated.
* £80 is for areas covered within Leeds, during normal office hours any areas out of Leeds or after normal hours are charged at £60 per hour minimum £120 for two hours.
** Working days are classed as Monday–Friday, Opening times Monday–Thursday 8.30am – 5pm and Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm
