North Regional Association for Sensory Support (NRASS) is no longer providing an Advocacy Welfare Rights Service on behalf of Leeds City Council (LCC). The Local Authority is in the process of appointing a new provider and all the indications are that this will be SignHealth, who will become the official provider from 1 April 2010.
Tom Keogan, of NRASS, will be holding an open meeting at Leeds Deaf Social Club on Tuesday 2 March at 7.30 p.m. to explain why NRASS is not continuing as the service provider and confirming the handover process to the new provider.
Rob Young, Chief Executive of coHearentVision, says: “NRASS has been a solid provider of assistance to people with a sensory loss and it is sad to see them give up this important contract. However, there often has to be change and I am sure that SignHealth, who are in the process of being appointed as the interim provider by the Local Authority, will prove themselves worthy successors and continue to improve on the work that has already be done. CoHearentVision will be looking at practical ways to work with and support the new provider’s efforts to deliver the best possible services to their customers, irrespective of which sensory loss they suffer from”
