Is hearing loss a "life-threatening disease"?! not!
Interesting to see how the medical people view deafness and because of them, some of the society today view deafness as a medical model focussing on what we cant do when we can do a MILLION other things!

I think you might have misread that title, the discusion about hearing loss is about getting funding for research into age related illnesses in competition with life threatening diseases. I'm sure no one thinks that deafness is life threatening it's just about the heirarchy of research grants and it being easier to get funding for cancer etc than it is for age related hearing loss or dementia or Macular Degeneration etc
