Bowling at the Merrion Centre

Barbara Fraher and her team have once again bowled their way to success to what is set out to be another fantastic year for the Play Scheme. Yesterday (Tuesday 3rd August)the play scheme commenced when a group of  children / young people and their play support workers and volunteers spent the afternoon having fun at the Merrion Centre bowling alley.

Barbara Fraher Said “ I love it, everyone had a blast, roll on Thursday when we will be out exploring Leeds”

Karl Jacques (Deaf volunteer for over 10 years)

‘I joined to help give the children a man’s perspective on things as there is a lot of female volunteers and I think the balance is important to aid children’s development. The children use you as a role model, but really you learn from each other. The one to one work can be really difficult at times but it’s still enjoyable.’

Ellen Maher (volunteer)

‘I love working with children. It’s really good to see the growth in their skills and confidence during the play scheme and the Monday Club.’
